Microsoft : Glassdoor enhanced

An informative summary panel sends a compelling message to jobseekers.

The feature

The landing page of Microsoft’s Careers section includes a panel from employee review site Glassdoor at the foot of the page. The panel offers a digest of key information: the current star rating (4.2/5), name and picture of the CEO, Approve of CEO rating (97%, based on more than 9000 ratings), and a chart showing Interview experience (positive, neutral or negative). The panel is ‘Powered by glassdoor’, suggesting that the primary control Microsoft has is whether or not to include it on the page.

The takeaway

Large companies have been experimenting with including links to Glassdoor on careers pages over the last few years. Such links provide a useful signpost and – more importantly – a message that the company is being transparent about its performance on a third-party site. This mini-dashboard is significantly more comprehensive than the more widely seen logo links, though some may be frustrated by the absence of a link directly to the site. Nonetheless, the takeaway impression is of a well-reviewed, confident company that is proud of its employee relations: a compelling message for jobseekers.
