Aviva, the UK-based insurance company, posted a video on its LinkedIn channel to coincide with children going back to school

Aviva employee explains personal impact of annual leave policy on LinkedIn

In the 1-minute video, an Aviva employee speaks to camera about the positive personal impact of the company’s policy to offer half a day of annual leave to parents when their child starts a new school.

"I am excited but in equal measures I am terrified and anxious about the whole process,” she says. “Darcy, on the other hand, is completely ready to go." She explains the policy – which can be used for primary or secondary starters – and how she will use it to pick her daughter up from school and spend the afternoon with her.

The video, filmed on a mobile in an office, is timely, informal, friendly and inexpensive to produce. It will have benefits for internal communications, but also works to promote the company to jobseekers wanting to see what Aviva is like as a place to work. The video explains the benefits of the policy much better than more typical corporate pages with bullet point lists.
