Visitor Research Consultant

The overall purpose of the role is to work with our Head of Visitor research, Head of Analytics, Senior Consultants and other colleagues to deliver first-class advice for our clients.

Thanks to our continued success and expanding client list, we are looking for a Visitor Research Consultant to get involved with all aspects of our work.

You will be measuring the effectiveness of our clients’ corporate online communication through our survey and analytics services. You will work with our Senior consultants to incorporate this visitor research into their reviews to enrich the insights and recommendations they provide to clients.

You will be involved in survey design, data preparation, analysis, data visualisation  and reporting. You will also develop expertise in web analytics (primarily Google Analytics) and the integration of survey and web analytics data for greater insights.

Through collaboration with the team, you will have the opportunity to develop a forensic understanding of online survey design, implementation, analysis and reporting, a broad understanding of digital corporate communication and business, and the chance to work with some fascinating clients with interesting challenges.

The role

  • Learn the Bowen Craggs measurement methodology; this forms the basis of the way we measure the effectiveness of corporate websites, and advise our clients.
  • Survey design and build using the Qualtrics platform
  • Preparing survey data using Alteryx
  • Data analysis and visualisation using Tableau
  • Analysis of visitor behaviour in Google Analytics and Tableau
  • Managing Tableau Online, our platform for publishing interactive dashboards for clients to self-serve their visitor research data
  • Supporting colleagues and clients to self-serve in Tableau Online by producing video tutorials and presenting in online meetings
  • Documenting our Alteryx and Tableau assets using online tools for collaboration, screen recording and video editing
  • Contributing to the continuous evolution of our Alteryx and Tableau assets by injecting new functionality and best practice
  • Update clients’ interactive dashboards in Tableau Online on a monthly basis, Inform clients if there are issues of particular interest or concern.
  •  Use visitor research to inform and enrich the Senior consultant’s expert review of the client’s websites and support them on consultancy projects.
  • Report visitor research data to your clients on a quarterly basis in a joint presentation with the Senior consultant.  The presentation will generally be conducted online but may be in person for UK based clients.

The Person

Qualities:

  • You must like data: cleaning, transforming, validating but most importantly seeing patterns, interpreting data to both form and support conclusions and teasing out the stories.
  • You will have an analytic mind, but be able to express your thoughts in an engaging way
  • You must be a strong verbal communicator able to convey ideas to others who are more comfortable with words than numbers
  • You should be comfortable “talking to camera” but will be given training to develop your skills
  • You should be proactive, positive and inquisitive with an eagerness to learn
  • You will need to be flexible, with the ability to prioritize workloads based on the needs of the internal team and clients
  • You will need to be comfortable working on your own, and as part of a small and friendly team

Experience

We don’t have fixed criteria so tell us why your experience and interest are relevant and interesting:

  • A degree in data journalism, with a desire to be hands-on with the data would be ideal.
  • Alternatively, a degree in data science with good communication skills and a desire to tell stories would work too.
  • An interest in/experience of the activities and roles of multinational companies.
  • Some familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau would be desirable, but not essential.
